Here’s poem 17 : Impassionate Gods. Poem 17 of the Ogura Hyakunin Isshu Hyakunin Isshu [One Hundred Poets, One Poem Each] is a collection of 100 short poems, known as tanka.Tanka is a form of Japanese traditional poetry comprised of just five lines with a total of 31 syllables grouped in lines of 5, 7, 5, 7 and 7 syllables. The first three lines, composed of 17 syllables, are called "kaminoku," and the final two lines composed of 14 syllables are called "shimonoku." Teika himself called his collection Hyakunin-shuka (one hundred poets, excellent poetry). The collection later came to be called Hyakunin-isshu (which means one hundred poems by one hundred poets).

The collection was developed into a popular poem-recognition card game first introduced in the 17th century and still popular in Japan today. Written in the indigenous Japanese tanka (or waka) form using five lines with a Hyakunin-Isshu audio player for Competitive Karuta (a.k.a. Kyogi Karuta) ----- "Hyakunin-Isshu", which means 100 poems by 100 poets, is a set of Japanese classic poetry.
